The mainstay of our programs for the children and youth of the church is our Sunday School. We regularly have 22 or more children attend age-appropriate classes in our Parish House school wing. We have a Christian Education committee who works with the Sunday School Director and teachers to plan and carry out the many events for the children and youth of our church.
Families benefit from the nursery program, weekly Sunday School classes, youth programs, Confirmation Class and several family-friendly events through the year. Typically our school year begins with Gathering Sunday in early September and ends with Sunday School Sunday in mid-June, both of these events are celebrated with festive picnics for the whole congregation. Throughout the year we host several family events including: a Halloween event, the Advent Craft Fair which is enjoyed by the children and crafters of all ages and the Heifer Fair, a fund-raising event for Heifer International. There are also musical opportunities for children such as the cherub choir and the junior choir. These choirs practice for a couple of weeks and then share their songs of praise during worship services to the delight of the families and the congregation.
For generations children have grown up in the church and some who live in the area are now active adult members. It’s a priority for us that we nurture children and lead them in their spiritual education.
